What should I do before my tattoo?

  • Make sure you have a good night sleep and a hearty breakfast.

  • Wear loose clothing that gives the artist access to the area you want tattooed and that you don't mind getting dirty!

  • Make sure you bring water or a sugary drink to sip during your appointment.

What should I do after my tattoo?

  • Make sure you follow the aftercare instructions that were given verbally or on your aftercare sheet.

  • Take off the cling film after 2-3 hours.

  • Do not soak your tattoo in the bath, a rinse in the shower is enough.

  • Make sure you clean the tattoo with unscented, antibacterial soap and water. Pat dry with kitchen roll or a clean towel.

  • After a few days, you can use your preferred aftercare moisturiser after cleaning your tattoo.

  • Repeat this process at least twice daily whilst the tattoo is in the later healing stages.

  • If you have swelling, ibuprofen will help bring it down. Please check with your doctor if you are able to use these.

  • Do not pick or scratch your new tattoo as you may pull the ink out.

  • Healing time is roughly 2-3 weeks.

  • Not everybody is the same and some may take more or less time to heal.

Parking

There is free 1 hour parking available in the car park outside of our building. If you are visiting for longer than an hour, we recommend finding street parking on the residential streets near the studio. There are usually plenty of spaces on Station Road - turn left off of Victoria Road or turn left as you come out of the car park.

Eating

With our current Covid regulations in place, we cannot allow clients to eat in the studio. If your appointment is long enough to warrant a lunch break, you will be asked to pop out of the studio for this time. There are plenty of coffee shops and cafes in the area but we highly recommend Pizza Pronto, which is also the closest option to the studio. The ultimate tattoo lunch is one of Paddy's amazing pizzas!

What to expect when getting tattooed

All bookings are done via email and we are open for appointments only. We will ask for reference images for your idea, a rough size in cm/inches and an idea of placement. Then we can get back to you with a quote and get you booked in!

Sometimes artists request images of the area of your body that they will be tattooing. This is so they can draw the design to fit the area perfectly. You will also be asked for images if you're looking to fill a specific gap. Please send clear, well lit images taken from straight on. You do not need to send a picture of your whole body, but we do need to see all of the area you would be getting tattooed. Depending on the area it may be best to use a self timer or ask someone else to help you.

Our artists draw the designs the day before the appointments which means we don't send out designs in advance, unless agreed beforehand with the artist.

When you arrive you will be asked to fill out a consent form and provide ID. Artists will the discuss the design, size and placement with you before getting the process started.

Once you've agreed on a design with the artist they will make the stencil. To place the stencil on your body the artist will ask you to expose the area you want the tattoo to go and to stand straight as the stencil is applied.

Arms and legs are a lot easier than other places, you can roll up sleeves/legs or wear tshirts/shorts. It's best to wear loose fitting clothing that you don't mind getting ink on. If you're going further up the thigh you could wear loose fitting shorts so the artist can easily access the area. For back pieces you can wear a backwards hoodie/shirt. For ribs its best to wear no bra or a loose fitting sports bra. If you're getting your chest/torso tattooed a hoodie or buttoned shirt would also be a good choice. For more specific recommendations on clothing please get in touch.

In some cases you may need to remove the hoodie as the stencil is being applied to the chest/torso area. If you're holding your chest to cover nipples/breasts you may be asked to lower your arms to the side. This is so the artist can fully access the area and apply the stencil in the correct position. Nipple covers are available at the shop or you artist can fashion some from studio supplies.

You will only be asked to move or remove items of clothing when absolutely necessary. You are welcome to change in our bathroom if you do not want to remove clothing in the main tattooing area. Privacy screens are available at the studio. If the artist has not already put the screens up, feel free to request them.

Please be aware that the main tattooing area is open plan which means that there will be other clients and artists in the area when you're getting tattooed.

We have a female shop manager, Bec, who is more than happy to accommodate your needs. You can get in touch with her via email or phone, and she also monitors the socials. If you have any concerns or comments please get in touch so we can make sure you have the best experience possible when visiting us.
